Leading American Surrogacy Psychologist Dr. Kim Bergman of Growing Generations to Present to Members of New South Wales Parliament

- Presentation To Educate Members About Ethical Issues Related to Family Building Through Surrogacy in the United States

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Kim Bergman, a leading United States Psychologist specializing in surrogacy and egg donation, will present to members of the New South Wales Parliament on the topic of Ethical Family Building Through Surrogacy at a luncheon on September 12 sponsored by The Hon. Trevor Khan MLC, The Hon. Adam Searle MLC and David Shoebridge MLC. She will be joined at the panel presentation by Stephen Page, an accredited family law specialist with the Brisbane law firm Harrington Family Lawyers, and Kelly Rummelhart, a U.S. based surrogate who has helped 3 families with the birth of their children.

"Our presentation is designed to address the misperceptions and misinformation that is often attached to surrogacy in the U.S. and which we believe was a factor in the anti-surrogacy law passed in New South Wales two years ago which has had such a negative impact on couples in NSW being able to have children," said Dr. Kim Bergman who also co-owns Growing Generations, a surrogacy agency based in Los Angeles. "My wife grew up in Sydney and many of our family still reside there so this a something that is near to my heart."

Dr. Bergman's psychological practice has been involved in the screening and support of over 1,000 U.S. based surrogates who have worked with intended parents from more than 30 countries around the world. She has spoken on the topic of "Ethical Family Building Through Surrogacy" to groups around the world and her work has been published in a variety of publications and journals including The Journal of GLBT Family Studies.
